The kidnapping of Johannes Erlemann was one of the most spectacular child kidnappings in Germany. Johannes was held captive for 14 days. How does he deal with it today - and why does he want to meet his kidnappers again?

Johannes Erlemann is a special case - he knows that himself. Today, he talks about his abduction in detail and even humorously. ‘I know that I was very lucky - even though I left my childhood in that box,’ he tells us in the interview.

Many people who were abducted as children are still severely traumatised today and shy away from the public eye. Erlemann deals with it very differently - it's his way of coming to terms with what happened, he says.

Even more, he would like to see his kidnappers again one day. One question in particular has stayed with him to this day: ‘Why did you have to be so cruel to me?’
