For a bit of justice

In September 1986, a family man was murdered in Bergkamen: Josef Milata. It was not until decades later that one of the perpetrators was convicted. Milata’s foster sons are speaking publicly for the first time about the day that changed their lives forever.

In an interview with WDR, the two brothers repeatedly fill in for one another, look at each other and offer each other encouragement. It was not easy for them to talk once again about the murder of their foster father.

During the interview, they recall that in 1986, following the crime, there was no psychological support available to them. On the contrary: after the crime, the brothers – who were still young at the time – had to clean the kitchen themselves, the very room where their father had been killed.

The brothers hope that, thanks to the renewed attention on the case, the second perpetrator might one day also be brought to justice ...
